General information
CoursesYou can study Russian or Ukrainian for the number of weeks of your choice and decide on how and when you want to study. If you have any special requirements we will be glad to suggest the most suitable course for you. Following completion of your course, you will receive a certificate. You will also have the opportunity to take a test to assess your language skills.American students are offered credits after a course with special conditions president. Individual courses are available all year round and you can start at any time. If you want to have a special focus in your individual studies, for instance business, economics, law, conversation or mass media, we can arrange it. Group courses normally comprise tuition in groups consisting of 2-12 persons the size depends on which university you choose to study at. You will usually receive 20 lessons per week (four lessons per day). These courses are available for students of all standards of Russian and Ukrainian and generally start every week. Tuition All tuition is given by qualified and certified university teachers. One lesson normally equals 45 minutes*. Tuition is not offered on Saturdays/Sundays and national holidays. Course literature can normally be borrowed or bought at low prices. You should bring a dictionary yourself. * In Kiev one lesson equals 60 minutes, unless otherwise stated. In Moscow one lesson equals 40 minutes. Accommodation The range of accommodation on offer varies but you can usually choose from staying in a student room, with a family, in an apartment or at a hostel and hotel. Accommodation is generally reserved from Sunday prior to the start of the course until Saturday following the end of the course. Extra nights before and after the course can be arranged at an extra fee. For those just wishing to visit the Black Sea rather than study we can offer accommodation in a well located university hostel perfect for exploring Odessa and the Back Sea coast. Prices, course package Course packages include tuition, invitation (as the basis of your visa application) and normally accommodation and transfer to and from airport or railway station. In many cases excursions are included as part of your studies. The course fee does not include meals (except when staying with a family, which includes breakfast), tickets, insurance, visa fees and international language exams. Current prices are given at AMBergh's official websites (http://www.ambergh.com, http://www.russian-in-russia.com, http://www.russian-in-russia.net, http://www.russian-in-russia.eu), or can be given on request. Prices are valid until further notice. The price is fixed, unless otherwise agreed, when the registration has been confirmed, with reservation for price changes beyond AMBergh's control, such as currency fluctuations above 5%, tax raises and other unforeseen costs. Prices are updated continuously. Group discounts are available. Registration Registration should be made in writing using a downloaded registration form, or directly via our website. Please send us a scanned document or photocopy of the information pages of your passport including your photo. If you want a visa invitation we must receive a completed registration and payment of the registration fee at least eight weeks before the start of the course. Otherwise we cannot guarantee that you will your visa in time. Please contact us as soon as possible as availability is limited, especially during summer. Registration and reservation of a place on the course and accommodation can only take place once the registration fee has been received. The registration form should be completed in detail to help us make sure that you get the right kind of tuition that meets your own particular needs. A booking is binding once the registration fee has been paid. Final payment for the course package should be made no later than 20 days before the start of the course. In some cases, payment can be made later than 20 days before the start of the course but this need to be agreed with us first. Please contact us for further information. Failure to complete payment leads to automatic cancellation of the course. Payment Payment can be made through a regular bank transfer. Information before departure After payment in full has been made, you will receive: - confirmation of application - a copy of the invitation (for those who need it) - information about the time and place of your first lesson - information about accommodation - information about being met at the airport or railway station The original invitation can be sent to you against payment of the distribution cost. Visa The visa is compulsory for Russia and in some cases also for Ukraine. (Please check with us or the Ukrainian embassy). In your registration you must state at which Russian/Ukrainian consulate you intend to apply to for your visa. Journey You arrange the journey to and from Russia or Ukraine yourself. We can however help you with the booking of flight tickets. If you want a price quote, please indicate this when you register. Insurance Health insurance is compulsory. We assume that you have a valid insurance policy for the period in question, which covers Russia/Ukraine. It is very important that you bring your insurance to Russia/Ukraine. Age limit From 18 years. 16 years old with written permission from a parent or legal guardian. Cancellation/re-booking It is necessary to have cancellation/re-booking insurance for all types of cancellation. If there are less than two weeks remaining before the start of the course, cancellation is only acceptable in cases of severe illness or accident, which affect the person registered or their close relatives. A doctor's certificate will be required. If the course cannot be completed due to the above mentioned reasons, the full amount of the course package will be refunded minus costs for the university. No refund will be made for study packages of 1-3 weeks. The registration fee and cancellation/re-booking insurance will not be refunded. If the course is re-booked for another period a charge will be made for the issuing of a new invitation. Extension If you wish to extend the period of tuition while you are studying in Russia or Ukraine, please contact us via email or telephone. Rules and regulations Course attendants should obey the rules and regulations that apply at the universities and in the respective countries. Vaccination We recommend that you contact your doctor and be given the appropriate vaccinations. Course certificate Students, who have completed their studies with at least 80% attendance, receive a certificate. Holidays Please note that no lessons are given on Saturdays/Sundays and official holidays unless otherwise specified. Complaints Complaints should be made in written form to AMBergh no more than 30 days after the completion of the course. Liability AMBergh accepts no liability for damage, which affects the traveller resulting from disaster, strike or other events classifiable as force majeure. |
